Happy Holidays Urbane Readers! To celebrate the holidays, I have decided to cook up a holiday playlist.

The base ingredient is “Santa Baby” by Eartha Kitt. This song is an essential Christmas tune. Eartha Kitt makes you feel like Santa is your sweetheart and he’s bringing you gifts to show you love.

  1. Add a dash of  ”I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” by the Jackson Five.  Michael’s vocals on this track are so cute. It reminds me of childish innocence and how a child views Christmas.
  2. Don’t forget “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” also by the Jackson Five. I love jamming to this song by the Jackson Five. It makes me want to sit & be good so Santa will bring me a gift.
  3. Make sure you sprinkle in a little “All I Want For Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey.  Mariah’s voice is always strong and she doesn’t disappoint on this track.
  4. If you feel like slowing it down, throw on “Silent Night” by the Temptations. This song concentrates more on Christian aspect of Christmas. It’s a lovely song and the vocal harmony of the Temps is unmatched.
  5. Continue to keep the holiday bash in chill mode with “Do You Hear What I Hear” by Whitney Houston. Whitney is known her strong voice & she brings it on this song.
  6. To speed things up, but, keep a slow groove add, “This Christmas” by Donny Hathaway.  Donny describes Christmas in such a loving & fun way that you can’t help but to be enticed.
  7. To mix it up, throw on “Jingle Bell Rock” by Bobby Helms.  I have loved this song since Home Alone and every year I must hear it and reminisce on my younger days. The song is fun & keeps the holiday light & family oriented.
  8. For a lil Latina flava add, “Feliz Navidad” by Jose` Feliciano. This is one of those songs that is so catchy that anyone can sing along. Knowing & speaking Spanish is not a required skill to enjoy this song.
  9. If you want rock out for a little bit, add “Rockin Around the Christmas Tree” by Brenda Lee.  I love this song, it’s so much fun and it’s a cool song to listen to.
  10. Make sure you take a “Sleigh Ride” with TLC.  This song is a Christmas classic from the 90s.
  11. If you want to slow it down again, play “Let It Snow” by Boyz II Men. I love this song, because, it makes you feel warm & loved.
  12. To please the kiddies and be silly play, “The Chipmunk Song” by the Chipmunks. This song is pure silliness but the kids will be happy.
  13. Keep the party happy & grooving “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of Year” by Andy Williams.  I love this song, because, it makes happy and makes me want to dance.
  14. Slow it down with more Latino flava, “Ave Maria” by Placido Domingo.  This song is a Catholic classic, it gives you a chance to praise the Virgin Mary.
  15. Keep the slow groove with, “Let It Snow” by Boyz II Men. This song is beautiful, it makes you wish you for snow.
  16. If you’re feeling blue play, “Blue Christmas” by Elvis Presley. This song always makes you want to nurse your wounds if you’re feeling lonely this Christmas.
  17. To speed the party back up and add a little Hip-hop flava, “Christmas in Holland” by Run DMC. This song is Christmas Hip-hop classic.
  18. Make sure you don’t forget “I Believe in Christmas Eve” by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles. This song always adds a nice positive vibe to he Christmas party.
  19. Lastly, we must end with Stevie Wonder and “Someday at Christmas”.  This song ends the Christmas jam on a wishful note and keeps you excited about next year.
