Georgia native Beverly Davis has always loved gorgeous nail polish colors. So, she thought, why not design it? In the year 2000, the business name came to her on a Sunday while in church. In 2007, sudden unemployment motivated Davis to launch out as an entrepreneur. She designs a nail polish collection and labels each an uplifting descriptive name.
Urbane Perspective: At what point in your life did you realize u were an entrepreneur?
Beverly (Sunday Cosmetics): I’ve always had the desire to work for myself, but sat on it. It wasn’t until2007, when I was suddenly unemployed, that I went for it. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired.I was in a particuarly nasty work environment, overworked, underpaid with a boss from hell. I said never again. The Lord knew how to motivate me. (laugh).
Urbane Perspective: What has been you toughest lesson to learn?
Beverly (Sunday Cosmetics): That the pursuit of your dream and the desire to
do better will bring out hidden jealousy and resentment in friends and some family members. I’ve been laughed at and talked about. I had to let them go. Best decision I ever made.

Urbane Perspective: How do you measure success?
Beverly (Sunday Cosmetics): I measure success by seeing my dream packaged and sold to satisfied customers. It lets me know that one day I’ll reach millions. I like to call it mustard seed faith. I feel a sermon coming. (laugh). Great things always start small.
Urbane Perspective: With the current economic climate how do you reach out and expand your customer base?
Beverly (Sunday Cosmetics): With a tiny marketing budget, I rely on a direct mail campaign, word-of-mouth, publicity and Twitter.
Urbane Perspective: Explain the concept of your cosmetic line, Sunday Cosmetics?
Beverly (Sunday Cosmetics): It’s a pretty nail polish collection with spiritually, uplifting descriptive names.
Urbane Perspective: What is new for this summer collection?
Beverly (Sunday Cosmetics): I recently launched The Grace Collection. It features ten of the season’s hottest colors that include: Heaven (gold), Grace (fuchsia), Love (yellow), and Prayer Works (purple). Each color is packaged with a bottle of Faith (clear base/topcoat).
Urbane Perspective: There are thousands of cosmetic lines, what differentiates Sunday Cosmetics from others?
Beverly (Sunday Cosmetics): I stand out from the crowded cosmetics industry in that I target the Christian woman, the woman who appreciates inspiration and beauty.
Urbane Perspective: How do you want to evolve as an entrepreneur and how is it related to Sunday
Cosmetics?
Beverly (Sunday Cosmetics): I am working on a series of motivational seminars sharing business tips and how I overcame ugly struggles to launch and grow SundayCosmetics. My dream is an internationally successful company with millions of customers. I dream big – in spite of a tiny budget. All things are possible when you have a plan, a vision and work hard. I want to share my story to let others know ANYONE can do it.
Urbane Perspective: What plans do you have for Sunday Cosmetics?
Beverly (Sunday Cosmetics): Are you planning on any brand extensions?
I’m working diligently to get the collection in mega church gift shops worldwide – including gift shops
owned by the TrinityBroadcasting Network (TBN). As for brand extensions, I’m planning to add
lipstick and lipgloss.
